Mansoura University achieves advanced positions in the most important and largest rankings of higher education and scientific research institutions worldwide

Mansoura University ranks 67th  globally and 2nd  locally in the results of the first edition of the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary World University Rankings, and achieves huge leaps in the British QS rankings.

Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research issued, on January 6, 2025, an infographic about the Egyptian universities participating in making a qualitative leap in the ranking of higher education and scientific research institutions in Egypt. It included Mansoura University achieving an unprecedented international achievement, by being included in the results of the first edition of the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary World University Rankings, which showed the inclusion of 27 Egyptian universities in the ranking, the appearance of 4 Egyptian universities among the top 100 universities listed in the ranking worldwide, and 7 Egyptian universities in conducting interdisciplinary scientific research. According to the ranking results, Mansoura University ranked 67th  globally. The infographic also indicated that the university has made huge leaps in the 2025 QS British ranking, which is one of the three most important and influential rankings in the world. It explained that Mansoura University ranked 951-1000 instead of 1001-1200, advancing 250 places from the 2024 ranking, and ranked 4th  among Egyptian universities.

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, stressed the university's keenness to implement the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to raise the quality and competitiveness of the university education system, and achieve the sustainable development goals related to Egypt's Vision 2030, and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research under the leadership of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which aims to enhance international publishing and develop scientific research policies. He added that Mansoura University continues its excellence in international rankings, which is reflected in its presence in advanced positions in all international rankings of the best universities in the world, according to its various criteria in terms of research performance, global citations, research quality, academic reputation, and the level of its graduates in the international employment index. In addition to its ability to achieve strong competition with Arab and international universities, which reflects the university's commitment to a package of procedures that have been taken to advance it in all fields and sectors; such as supporting research activities and practices, and paying attention to the quantity and quality of scientific research production, with increasing the rate of public spending on applied scientific research and social and human sciences, and supporting researchers with all the necessary capabilities to increase the number of researches and international participation and develop their quality, in addition to developing and establishing laboratories, forming research teams and supporting them morally, materially and logistically, training in international publishing, increasing the number of researches published internationally, directing research towards the needs of the state and national projects and serving the community, and working to link scientific research to industry.

university president praised the efforts made by the university's Graduate Studies and Research Sector, headed by Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, noting that the achievement is the culmination of the ongoing efforts to develop the scientific research system and enhance the quality of research and publish it internationally, which enhances its position as a leading university in the field of education and scientific research at the local, regional and global levels.

Prof. Cherif Khater added that the university will continue its efforts to improve the ranking indicators, including enhancing the quality of education and scientific research, investing in training and developing faculty members, encouraging scientific research with international impact, and ensuring the publication of distinguished research production in prestigious international journals.

 It is worth noting that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings measures universities' contributions to scientific research according to 11 indicators, and evaluates institutions across 3 main axes, including: inputs (funding and resources 19%), processes (success measures, facilities, administrative support and promotion 16%), and outputs (publications, research quality and reputation 65%).

While the QS ranking ranks universities based on several criteria, including academic reputation, the reputation of graduates after employment, research production, citations to scientific research published by the university, as well as the number of research published by faculty members at the university in relation to the number of faculty members, the percentage of faculty members and international cooperation, the number of faculty members holding a doctorate degree, the number of international professors and students at the university, and the impact of the university’s website.
