Prof. Cherif Khater: The Oncology Center is the second largest oncology center in Egypt, providing its services to 40% of Egypt's population.
The General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control, headed by Dr. Ahmed Taha, announced in an official statement the latest decisions of the Supreme Accreditation Committee, which included the Mansoura University Oncology Center obtaining GAHAR accreditation, making it the 2nd accredited center at Mansoura University.
Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, congratulated the center's staff headed by Prof. Walid El Nahhas on this great achievement achieved by the center by obtaining GAHAR accreditation, and their support for implementing quality standards and the accreditation journey, stressing that obtaining GAHAR accreditation is the culmination of the tireless efforts in providing distinguished quality health services that meet the highest quality standards in the world. He added that the Oncology Center is the 2nd largest university center for oncology treatment in Egypt, with a capacity of 500 beds, providing its excellent and integrated medical services in the field of diagnosis, treatment and tumor surgeries to 40% of Egypt's population. He added that this success is a source of pride for the medical sector and all university members, extending his greetings and appreciation to the administration of university hospitals headed by Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and to all faculty members and employees, for their efforts and tireless pursuit to move forward in completing the accreditation file in various university hospitals and medical centers at the university.
According to the statement issued by the authority, Dr. Ahmed Taha confirmed that the health facility's obtaining the accreditation certificate issued by "GAHAR" reflects its keenness to provide safe and effective health care, within an organized work environment that relies on the best clinical and administrative practices, noting that this achievement contributes to enhancing operational efficiency, reducing medical errors, and improving the patient experience, in line with the goals of advancing the Egyptian health sector and achieving excellence in health care.
It is worth noting that the approval of the Higher Committee for Accreditation for the accreditation of health facilities is based on the reports of a team of qualified and internationally trained auditors committed to evaluating facilities through a number of evaluation visits to ensure full compliance with the accreditation standards issued by the Authority and internationally accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQUA), in addition to being subject to continuous review and development, which is the basis of the work of the Authority’s auditors, whose selection process and management system are subject to strict rules to ensure integrity, impartiality and the absence of conflicts of interest, in addition to the continuous building of their capabilities in the areas of evaluation and review.
It is also worth noting that Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, had signed a joint cooperation protocol with the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Supervision in 2023, to grant a “Professional Diploma Certificate” through which specialists in qualifying health facilities for accreditation are graduated according to a scientific and practical program and approach prepared by the Authority, which includes the standards it issued for accrediting hospitals, centers and primary care units (GAHAR EGY-CAP), during an official visit by the Authority’s delegation headed by Dr. Ahmed Taha, during which the plan for accrediting health facilities at Mansoura University was presented.
