The first Online Ph.D Defense between Mansoura University and Le Mans University, France, in the framework of activating the cooperation agreement between Mansoura University and Le Mans University, France in 2016.

Today on Monday 28th September 2020 was held the first online Ph.D defense between Mansoura University and Le Mans University via video conference. It was under the auspices of prof. Ashraf Abdel-Basset, the president of Mansoura University, prof. Ashraf Hafez, the vice-president for postgraduate studies and research and prof. Manal Ibrahim Eid, the dean of the faculty of pharmacy.

The Defense was by Dr. AbdelRahman Hamdy – the assistant lecturer in pharmaceutical organic chemistry via video conference as the researcher will receive a dual degree: the first is a Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Mansoura University and the second one is a Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry.

 

The examining committee members from Mansoura University were:

Prof. Khaled Basheer Selim, the coordinator of the agreement and the vice-dean of the faculty of pharmacy for postgraduate studies. Besides, prof. Mohamed Adel Masoud, and Prof. Fatma Alnabaweyia Gouda were among the committee. In addition to, prof. Reem Khedr from Zeweil University as one of the examining committee.

 

The examining committee members from Le Mans University were:

Prof. Gilles Dujardin and Prof. Mathieu Laurent. Besides, Prof. Sandrine Py from Grenoble Alpes University, and Prof. Veronique Michelet from the University of Cote d'Azur were among the committee.

The title of the dissertation is "Asymmetric construction of oxoproline-based tripeptide isotopes of tripeptide asunaprevir and their biological evaluation''. The aim of the dissertation is to manufacture triple amino acid compounds (short chain proteins) in order to find drugs that treat hepatitis resulting from the virus C.
