A Cooperation Protocol Between Mansoura University and Zagazig University in the Field of Organ Transplantation (Kidney/Liver)
Prof. Ashraf Abdel-Basset, the president of Mansoura University and prof. Othman ElSayed Shalaan, the president of Zagazig University signed a cooperation protocol between the two universities in the field of organ transplantation (kidney/liver).
The attendees from Mansoura University were: prof. Nesreen Salah Omar, the dean of the faculty of Medicine, prof. Mohamed Hegazy, the executive manager of hospitals and specialized medical center, prof. Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, the supervisor of liver transplant, and prof. Bassem Salah, the manager of Urology and Nephrology Center.
The attendees from Zagazig University were: prof.Yehia Zakaria Attwa, the counselor of the University for health affairs, prof. Abdelsalam Eid Abdelsalam, the dean of the faculty of Medicine, prof. Waleed Mahdy Nada, the executive manager of the university's hospitals, prof. Ramadan Mahmoud Nafie, the counselor of the president of the university for preventive medicine, Dr. Ahmed Ragab, the associate professor of urology, Zagazig university, prof. Mahmoud ElEithy, the lecturer in vascular surgery at Zagazig university, and Dr. Ahmed Eleiwa, member of kidney transplantation team, Zagazig university.
The protocol includes cooperation in training field of liver and kidney transplant in the following fields: surgery and anesthesia, and surgical intensive care between the faculty of medicine, Mansoura University and the faculty of medicine, Zagazig university. Training on cases of liver and kidney transplantation that will be carried out, are included.
Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset confirmed that the protocol is in the framework of the cooperation among Egyptian universities, and the exchange of various scientific and medical experiences that benefit patients and Egyptian society. Moreover, he stresses on scientific experiences in liver and kidney transplantation field that the university is distinguished of for decades thanks to the elite scholars.
Prof. Othman Elsayed Shalaan noted that the protocol supports ways of cooperation between the two universities and the desire of Zagazig university to establish kidney and liver transplant project to serve the kidney and liver's patients widespread in the area. The kidney and liver transplant project of the faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University is considered one of the huge projects among the world and the biggest in the number of cases that are carried out annually in Egyptian universities. The experience of the project's team is about sixteen years, in addition to tens of years in offering surgical treatments for liver and kidney patients and their health complications.
