President of Mansoura University held a meeting with a delegation of businessmen and investors in industrial zones in the Delta region to discuss the contribution of scientific research in solving industry problems

Within Mansoura University’s interest in industry challenges at the national level, through the postgraduate studies and research sector’s vision of the importance of scientific research in solving industry problems.

On January 18, 2024, Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, held a meeting with a delegation of businessmen and Delta sector owners of factories and investments in the Gamasa, Damietta Industrial and Mit Ghamr Investment Zones, as well as some members of the Senate interested in industry, to discuss ways in which scientific research at the university can contribute to developing industry and solving industry problems in Egypt.

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater said that this coordination meeting between the university, businessmen and investors comes within the objectives of the national strategy for higher education and linking scientific research with industry and within the university’s endeavor to achieve the state’s vision and support comprehensive development plans for the new republic.

He added that the university is keen on offering all its capabilities in various research, scientific and technological fields and all concerned parties to develop industry in the Delta region, noting that there are challenges facing the industrial sector and the university is working to do its part in advancing the development wheel by providing consultations and innovative scientific solutions to problems and doing its part to link the industrial sector with scientific research. He also noted that the university has many accredited laboratories and consulting and training centers in various faculties, which provide various services to all industrial entities inside and outside the governorate, in addition to cooperation with major international universities in centers of excellence and energy.

Prof. Tarek Ghalwash said that the industrial sector within the Delta faces many problems, and the university, as a source of expertise, has many scientific researches and innovations that provide solutions to these problems. The university is keen to build ties of cooperation with investors in industrial areas to discuss problems, study them, and provide solutions by scientific research produced by the university to reduce the cost of raw materials and increase production with high quality, it works to improve the Egyptian product both at the local and international levels.

During the meeting, some obstacles to factories in industrial zones were discussed, and the businessmen demanded the necessity of benefiting from the scientific and research expertise of the university by concluding cooperation protocols to develop solutions to advance production, which is represented in the use of new and renewable energy, providing raw materials at a low cost, and providing a product that suits the economic conditions as well as benefiting from accredited laboratories and research centers in obtaining quality certificates for products instead of sending them abroad and saving foreign currency in obtaining product quality certificates from abroad and all the problems that require resorting to the university as a source of scientific, research and consulting expertise.
