A student team at Mansoura University wins the Hackathon Competition held at Benha University to empower people with disabilities

A student team at Mansoura University won 3rd place nationwide, in the Hackathon Competition for Empowering People with disabilities, which was held at Benha University , the competition was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in cooperation with the National Academy for Information Technology for People with Disabilities and the Information Technology Institute, under the slogan “The nation needs all people of determination.” in health and sports.
Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, congratulated Mansoura University’s Students, members of the team, noting that the university is proud of the achievement of its students in all local and international competitions. The university is keen to provide an appropriate and stimulating environment for innovation and creativity, as the university works to direct the students’ ideas, especially the innovative and talented developers, programmers, and others to be in the right context to empower and integrate people with special needs using technology, which will benefit them, serve national projects, and achieve Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030.
A team from various departments at the Faculty of Engineering and Law participated under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakol, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Program, and Director of the Huawei Training Academy. The team members include: Muhammad Ahmed Tarbai, a student in the 2nd level of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Program, Ayyad Medhat Muhammad, a student in the Mechatronics Engineering Program, Maged Yasser Ibrahim, a student in the Mechatronics Engineering Program, Ammar Mansi Rakha, a student in the Department of Communications and Electronics Engineering, Ahmed Khaled Yahya, a student in Mechatronics Engineering, and Minha Haitham Agha, a student in the Faculty of Law.
Empowering People with Disabilities Hackathon is an event that aims to promote information technology and encourage creative participation in the field of developing assistive technologies for people with disabilities. During the hackathon, work is done on developing software and applications that help improve the lives of people with disabilities, whether by providing better access to information and services or through developing technologies that facilitate interaction and communication for them
