Mansoura University launches its institutional project “Bridges of Cooperation” to link scientific research with industry in cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority

On February 20, 2024, Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Dr. Ayman Mukhtar, Governor of Dakahlia, witnessed the inauguration of Mansoura University’s institutional project to link scientific research with industry in cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority to develop the industry and solve all the problems of the industrial and investment zones in Dakahlia and the Delta sector, under the auspices of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In the presence of Prof. Al-Sayed Abdel Khalek, former Minister of Higher Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mansoura National University, Major General Khaled Eid, Head of the General Intelligence Service for the East Delta Region, Major General Amr Abu Talib, Head of the Administrative Control Authority in Dakahlia, Brigadier General Muhammad Al-Komi, Member of the Administrative Control Authority, and Prof. Reda Abdel Salam, former governor of Sharkia, Prof. Muhammad Rabie Nasser, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Delta University, Prof. Al-Saeed Abdel Hadi, President of Horus University, Prof. Magdy Abu Rayan, former president of Mansoura University, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, vice president of the university for post graduate studies and research Prof. Mohamed Attia, vice president of the university for education and students, , Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, vice president of the university for community service and environmental development, and former vice presidents of the university, Dr. Ali Tawfik. The head of the Dakahlia Doctors Syndicate, Colonel Al-Haytham Awad, the military advisor to the governorate, the representative of the Military Intelligence Office, members of the Parliament and the Senate, the representatives of the Military Technical College, current and former faculty deans, and the heads of the industrial and investment zones in Dakahlia, with the participation of businessmen and investors in the Delta sector, including factory and investment owners in the Gamasa, Damietta Industrial and Mit Ghamr Investment Zones, as well as in the presence of directors of research centers and units and researchers from various sectors at the university.
Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater said that His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, over a period of ten years, provided unprecedented support to scientists and researchers to develop scientific research, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, link the research product with industry, direct scientific research to serve society, and confront the challenges facing economic growth, this is to achieve the state’s sustainable development goals (Egypt Vision 2030).
He added that Mansoura University took it upon itself to launch this important project to link scientific research with the industrial community in the governorates of Dakahlia and Damietta, through the exchange of experiences between industrialists, experts, and faculty members, in addition to discussing appropriate mechanisms for marketing and investing the outputs of scientific research to serve sustainable development and presenting practical proposals, as well as describing and analyzing the current situation. He also said that linking scientific research institutions with industry is an important factor in making the Egyptian economy more competitive on the global level, in order to increase the ability to transform innovations into industrial products, meet current and future needs, and export high-value industrial products. Here comes the importance of the role of Egyptian universities in community participation. Achieving sustainable development for the state, and providing all forms of support to the regions located within its geographical scope. He pointed out that the initiative comes in line with the national strategy for higher education and scientific research and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030, which paid great attention to activating the role of universities and higher education institutions in general in serving society and the surrounding environment.
Dr. Ayman Mukhtar said, “I am sending a message of thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi from within the prestigious Mansoura University for his full support for the Egyptian industry by solving all investors’ problems and developing industrial zones to localize the Egyptian industry, meet the needs of the local market, and increase exports.” He added that His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered linking scientific research with industry to solve all industrial problems in Egypt, to increase the production rate, provide job opportunities for youth, support the national economy, and attract foreign investments. He stressed that there is fruitful and constructive cooperation between the governorate and Mansoura University to exploit scientific research in solving and developing the problems facing industry in Dakahlia, and that what we are witnessing today is the merger between the mind, thought, scientific research, and manufacturing hands to advance the national economy and provide job opportunities.
The Governor also pointed out that the governorate worked to solve all the problems and obstacles facing investors in Dakahlia through cooperation with all state institutions, the Administrative Control Authority, the Industrial Development Authority, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the General Authority for Investment, the leadership of the Second Field Army, and all state institutions. He also appreciated the role of Mansoura University for its fruitful cooperation with the governorate in order to support industry in Dakahlia and solve investors’ problems through partnership and cooperation with all the various state institutions.
Prof. Tarek Ghalwash said that the postgraduate studies sector was keen to launch the “Bridges of Cooperation” project to create an integrated model for cooperation between academics and industrialists, so that it becomes a standard for innovation and development in Egypt. Mansoura University should be a center of excellence in scientific research and its application in industry, which contributes to the development of the Egyptian economy. He added that the mission of the “Bridges of Cooperation” project is defined in cooperation between the university and its research centers, laboratories, and applied research on the one hand, and industry on the other hand, to achieve technological progress and innovation to enhance economic growth. This includes encouraging applied research, facilitating technology transfer, and providing opportunities for researchers to interact with industry and benefiting from practical experiences to support local industry and the national economy.
The events also included a discussion session on linking scientific research with industry, during which speakers were: Major General Engineer/Mohamed Mahmoud Hulil, Advisor to the President of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Prof. Amr Farouk, Vice President of the Academy of Scientific Research for Technological Development, Prof. Sherif Badawi, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University, Prof. Mohamed Salah, Director of the Third Region of the Enterprise Development Agency at the Council of Ministers, the session was moderated by Prof. Khaled Bashir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mansoura University.
