President of Mansoura University participates in laying the foundation stone for the Egyptian Universities Land Project in the New Valley

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated in laying the foundation stone for the Egyptian university land project in the north of the city of Kharga, at kilometer 55 in the New Valley Governorate. Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on February, 24th, 2024, laid the foundation stone for the university land project, north of The city of Kharga, kilometer 55 in the New Valley Governorate, in the presence of Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Zamlot, Governor of the New Valley, Prof. Abdulaziz Tantawi, President of the New Valley University, Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, university presidents and ministry leaders.

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater said that laying the foundation stone for the Egyptian university land project comes within the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development,” noting that laying the foundation stone came in implementation of the cooperation protocol that was signed between the Supreme Council of Universities and the New Valley Governorate, regarding the allocation of 1,000 acres for each university participating in the project for the purposes of scientific research, agricultural and technological experiments, and the cultivation of strategic crops and medicinal and aromatic plants. He added that this project will work to reclaim lands in the New Valley Governorate and establish specialized research model farms that will have a positive impact on the development of scientific research and land reclamation and cultivation efforts, following the latest scientific research and the best agricultural methods to achieve increased productivity in agricultural crops, using the latest modern irrigation systems, to support the development efforts of the Egyptian state.

It is worth noting that “Wadi Al-Sharq” Company includes many laboratories, units, and farms (agribusiness incubator, experimental farms and demonstration fields, soil and water analysis laboratories and climate data, national laboratories for plant tissue cultivation for commercial production purposes, food product factories, and administrative headquarters for major and emerging agricultural companies, agricultural clinic, veterinary clinic).
