A new scientific milestone added to the record of Mansoura University’s

research achievements “An assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Science wins the prestigious Winifred Goldring Award from the International Paleontological Society”

Researcher Sanaa El-Sayed, assistant lecturer in the Department of Geology at the Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, earned a remarkable scientific achievement by obtaining the “Winifred Goldring Award” from the Association of Geologists, a prestigious award presented by the international paleontological community in recognition of her excellence in the field of vertebrate paleontology.

Prof. Cherif Khater - President of Mansoura University, extended his sincere congratulations and appreciation to the distinguished researcher Sanaa Al-Sayed, assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Science, stressing that the award is an honor that Mansoura University is proud of having one of its staff, among the distinguished young researchers. The university’s scientific and research achievements, with which the university leads the field of competition locally, regionally and globally, are a strong testimony to the excellence of young Egyptian researchers and their ability to achieve outstanding scientific achievements at the international level, indicating that they are a source of inspiration for future generations to work hard and strive towards excellence in various scientific fields.

This award comes to crown a career full of scientific achievements for the emerging researcher, as she has previously won many international and local awards in the same field, the most recent of which was the American Association of University Women award in 2023. Sanaa also has a long record of research achievements, as she participated in more than 13 international research papers published in the most prestigious scientific journals, most notably the Journal of Geology, in which she addressed the topic of ancient global warming that occurred about 56 million years ago, which is considered similar to what we are witnessing at the present time. As well as her participation in the discovery of the Mansourasaurus dinosaur in 2018. Sanaa has also continued her academic excellence by obtaining a scholarship from the Egyptian government to obtain her PhD degree at the University of Michigan in the United States of America.
