Mansoura University President announces a project for establishing a pharmaceutical factory to train pharmacy students

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, announced the university's plan to establish a pharmaceutical factory project in partnership with major pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to be a training center for pharmacy students at Delta region universities to train students practically in pharmaceutical manufacturing and produce applied research, through which medicines are produced using the best technological techniques to raise the quality of the Egyptian pharmaceutical product being manufactured, and increase its competitiveness at the local, regional and international levels, this came during the events of the 4th International Scientific Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences at Mansoura University, which was launched on September 3, 2024, entitled "Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry", in the presence of Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Magda Nasr - Vice President of Horus University, Prof. Ashraf Sweilem - Former Vice President of Mansoura University, Prof. Hussein Khouder - Deputy of the Health Committee in the Senate, Prof. Manal Eid - Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Vice Deans of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Vice Presidents of the Conference: Prof. Khaled Bashir, Prof. Hani Al-Kenawy, Conference Secretaries: Assoc.Prof. Yosra Al-Far and Dr. Mirhan Mohsen.
Prof. Tarek Ghalwash discussed the importance of enhancing scientific research and innovation in the field of pharmacy so that the results of research in the field of pharmacy can improve the quality of life, which is a basic goal of countries and societies, pointing out that the Graduate Studies Sector has started a project of cooperation between the university and industry in the fields of applied scientific research, and that there are innovative scientific researches that need paths for manufacturing to improve the quality of life for citizens, which is the goal that Mansoura University seeks to achieve.
Prof. Manal Eid explained that the Faculty of Pharmacy has been interested in establishing the Pharmaceutical Industry Research Center in recent years, which includes 3 specialized laboratories that serve applied research and link the university and industry, which is a national project. The magnetic resonance imaging project and the Pharmacy Center for Scientific Excellence have also been developed, which is one of the important pillars in pharmaceutical analysis. Important academic and specific programs have also been established that serve industry and scientific research plans, as well as establishing communication channels with major industrial institutions to develop innovative scientific and research solutions and link scientific research to industry.
Prof. Khaled Bashir reviewed the most important achievements of the faculty of Pharmacy in recent years, pointing out the diversity of the faculty’s specific programs and its keenness to qualify its graduates with the latest educational systems. He also presented the faculty’s excellence and its leading positions in international rankings in recent years, as well as the excellence of scientific research by scientists and researchers, which led to the highest level of international ranking for the faculty.
