Mansoura University President inspects the construction of current projects in the education and hospital sectors

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, inspected on October 23, 2024, a number of construction projects in the education and hospital sectors, to follow up on the progress of work according to the specified timetables. He was accompanied during the tour by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
Prof. Cherif Khater stressed Mansoura University's keenness to implement the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and to follow up on the implementation of the plan set in accordance with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research aiming to achieve Egypt's Vision 2030, to develop educational and medical services to keep pace with modern developments and growth rates, within the framework of the facility development plan implemented by the university to provide an educational infrastructure at the highest level with the latest equipment and modern educational means, in a way that serves the university's goals in achieving advanced positions in international rankings, and obtaining accreditation for its faculties, as well as developing the infrastructure in the medical sector to maintain its leadership as a pioneer of medicine in Egypt.
The tour began with an inspection of the first phase of the construction project of Building G at the Faculty of Agriculture, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Shata, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Prof. Metwally Abu Saree, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. The building includes a number of central laboratories and student lecture halls. It was built with a height of 7 floors to accommodate the increasing number of students and provide them with the necessary training by equipping the central laboratories according to the latest scientific findings in the field of agricultural sciences and research. Then, the tour passed by the university farm and inspected the preparations for the smart greenhouse project, which is included in the list of the university's green, smart and sustainable projects. This was followed by an inspection of the development project of the "Ali bin Abi Talib" building in the dormitory of Gihan for female students, in the presence of Dr. Walid Tantawi, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs. He also inspected the development and maintenance work and the readiness of the building with a capacity of 500 female students, praising the great development he saw in the accommodation rooms and services provided to students inside the building, and the keenness to provide all means of support to university students residing in university dorms by providing them with distinguished housing.
Then he headed to follow up on the projects in the university hospitals sector in the presence of Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals. The tour began with inspecting the progress of work on the new building project attached to the Oncology Center. They were received by Prof. Walid Al-Nahhas, Director of the Center, where they followed up on the progress of work on the project after the completion of the implementation of the concrete structure.
Prof. Cherif Khater said that the building was established within the university's future vision to provide distinguished medical services to cancer patients, in accordance with the continuous increases in the number of patients to the center as it is the largest university center specialized in oncology medicine and surgery in the republic. It is worth noting that the building is an extension of the Oncology Center, built with a height of 7 upper floors containing outpatient clinics, chemotherapy installation units, training and teaching halls, in addition to 2 basements prepared and equipped to install 2 radiotherapy devices for cancer patients.
The tour then concluded with a visit to the liver transplant project, where they were received by Prof. Helmy Ezzat, Director of the Gastrointestinal Surgery Center, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Supervisor of the Liver Transplant Program, and Prof. Mahmoud El Gamal, Engineering Supervisor of the project. They inspected the medical equipment, furniture and final finishes, in preparation for the opening and trial operation of the new building.
The university president expressed his great pleasure with the completion of this project, and the imminent trial operation, to be the first specialized center for liver transplantation in Egypt and the Middle East, established under presidential directives, in accordance with the global successes achieved by the university's liver transplantation program. It is worth noting that the building is 800 square meters and includes 9 floors with a capacity of 60 beds, and includes reception, clinics, surgical operations, intensive care, recovery, internal residence, an administrative floor, and halls for scientific research, and will double the number of liver transplant operations to eliminate waiting lists, as the number of surgeries will reach 5 operations per week, which will bring the number of cases to 200 cases annually, and this number is unprecedented in any liver transplant center from living donors worldwide, as well as following up on patients before and after the operation to avoid complications, and accommodating the largest number of patients from Arab countries, as well as training medical staff from inside and outside Egypt on liver transplant surgeries.
