Mansoura University is the first among Egyptian universities in the "Webometrics" Ranking for reference citations, January 2025 edition

-           The University’s leadership in international rankings is the result of its interest in scientific research and increasing international publication in international journals.

-           The "Webometrics" ranking for reference citations depends on the websites of universities and the rate of citations to scientific research published internationally, relying on the "Google Scholar" search engine for citations to international research.

Mansoura University continued its leadership among Egyptian universities in the Spanish "Webometrics" ranking for reference citations according to the latest ranking report published on January 18, 2025, where Mansoura University came in first place with a number of citations 774114, thus outperforming all Egyptian universities, and with an increase in the number of citations over last year amounting to 137679 reference citations.

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, said that the university's continued achievement of advanced positions in all international classifications is the result of its interest in scientific research and the increase in international publication rates in international journals that rely on the applied aspect, which is confirmed by the high rates of international citation of scientific research published by the university in all specializations. He added that the Spanish "Webometrics" ranking for reference citations depends on the websites of universities and the rate of citations to scientific research published internationally, relying on the search engine "Google Scholar" for citations to international research. He said that the ranking urges academic institutions in the world to present their scientific activities that reflect their scientific level on the Internet, as it depends on measuring the performance of universities using web indicators and bibliometric indicators for scientific research, through their websites within criteria that include the size and capacity of the university's website, links and the number of external networks that link to the university's web pages, the appearance of the university's website on other websites, the number of research published in the best international journals, as well as references to it.

Prof. Cherif Khater congratulated the scientists, researchers and university staff on this achievement, stressing the university's keenness to implement the sustainable development goals related to Egypt's Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, which aims to enhance international publishing and develop scientific research policies. He also praised the efforts made by the University's Graduate Studies and Research Sector under the leadership of Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, stressing that the achievement is a culmination of the ongoing efforts to develop the scientific research system and enhance the quality of research and publish it internationally, which enhances its position as a leading university in the field of education and scientific research at the local, regional and global levels.

Prof. Tarek Ghalwash said that achieving this international achievement is a reflection of the continuous development witnessed by the university, as it focuses primarily on scientific research and places it at the top of its priorities. He wished Mansoura University further progress and advancement in all fields.
