Mansoura University President Follows Up on Implementation of Medical Projects and Directs their Acceleration in Preparation for Entering the Medical Service System

The University President Holds Field Meetings with Consultants and Engineers at the Executive Sites to Follow Up on the Progress of Each Project

-      Commitment to timetables for completing all works and equipment in projects.

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, conducted an inspection tour on January 15, 2025, to follow up on the work being carried out in a number of construction projects in the university's medical sector, and to monitor the rates of completion of construction work and follow up on it.

He was accompanied during the tour by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. El-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and Mr. Saad Abdel Wahab, Secretary General of the University.

The tour included the project of the three medical centers, the project of replacing and renovating the intensive care, and the project of finishing and redistributing spaces on the 7th floor of the Children's Hospital.

Prof. Cherif Khater pointed out the keenness of the university administration to follow up on the completion of construction projects in the medical sector, to quickly enter the medical service and meet the needs of patients in light of the continuous increase in the rates of attendance at the medical sector, by serving nearly a third of the population of Egypt in the Delta governorates, and from all over the republic in general, within the framework of implementing the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to develop the health system in Egypt and build the Egyptian person to ensure the provision of the best medical services to citizens in light of the construction of the new republic, and the university's commitment to its medical leadership and its societal role in providing specialized quality medical services at the highest level in Egypt.

On the sidelines of the inspection tours, the President of Mansoura University held field meetings with consultants, engineers and companies at the implementation sites to follow up on the implementation status and the latest construction developments and work progress in each project, and listened to a detailed explanation of the latest developments in the construction works of the project. He had also followed up on the engineering drawings and specific timetables for implementing the project, as well as the status of the engineering extracts, cash flow rates and the work plan for the next phase, pointing out the university’s readiness for the procedures that must be taken against the implementing companies if they are late in implementing the work within the specified delivery dates.

Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim reviewed the timetable and the executive position of each project, as well as the financial position, and presented the obstacles to implementation, and the target in the current and upcoming period to complete the required work on time.

During the meetings, the President of Mansoura University directed to continue completing the work and raising the rates of achievement and completing all work within the specified times and with the highest required quality, in order to provide treatment services to those in need of them, stressing that the entry of ongoing projects into the medical service will constitute a qualitative shift in a number of important medical specialties.

The tour began with an inspection of the three medical centers project, in the presence of Prof. Wael Zakaria, Director of the Three Medical Centers, Prof. Khaled El-Toukhi, Deputy Director, and the supervisors of the medical units in the centers.

The project includes: Women and Childbirth Center, Neurology and Neurosurgery Center, Orthopedics Center, and was built on a total area of 7,500 m2, with a capacity of 750 beds, and consists of a basement and 8 floors. Outpatient clinics, administrative offices, classrooms, radiology and cerebral catheterization units, laboratories, rheumatology and rehabilitation unit, and neurophysiology unit have entered medical service so far.

Prof. Cherif Khater stressed the need to set priorities for implementation during the next three months to achieve commitment to the specified period during the current year to complete the operation. The second phase of the project, which includes operating capsules and intensive care wards on the 3rd  floor, and residence wards on the 5th  floor with a capacity of 160 beds.

This was followed by a visit to the University Children's Hospital, in the presence of Prof. Ashraf Al-Sharkawi, Director of the Hospital, Prof. Amr Sarhan, former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, heads of medical departments and the Deputy Director.

During the visit, the project to replace and renovate the intensive care ward at the University Children's Hospital was inspected, which includes a 7-bed pediatric surgery intensive care unit, a 14-bed pediatric intensive care unit, in addition to two isolation rooms with a total area of 672 m2.

The tour concluded with an inspection of the finishing and redistribution project on the 7th  floor of the University Children's Hospital, which will increase the capacity of the kidney, neurology, heart and chest departments, and includes patient residence wards, a Bertoni dialysis room, and heart and chest care.
