"The Dangers of Illegal Immigration and Smuggling of Migrants" seminar was held at Mansoura University

An awareness seminar entitled "The Dangers of Illegal Immigration and Smuggling of Migrants" was held at Mansoura University in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, under the auspices of Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, received on 2/11/2025, Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Ambassador Naila Gabr, Head of the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Immigration and Human Trafficking, Mr. Khaled El-Nafady, Executive Director of the Fund for Combating Illegal Immigration and Protecting Migrants, Counselor Maha Shaheen, Supervisor of the Presidential Initiative "Lifeboats" and the accompanying delegation, during their visit to Mansoura University within the framework of the activities of the awareness seminar entitled: "The Dangers of Illegal Immigration and Smuggling of Migrants", within the presidential initiative "Lifeboats", under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and with the support of Prof. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs. In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Walid Al-Shennawy, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Alaa Al-Tamimi, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

The awareness seminar aims to reduce the phenomenon of illegal immigration, raise awareness of its dangers, safe immigration methods, open a dialogue with students, and introduce them to positive alternatives such as training, job opportunities, and entrepreneurship; which contributes to supporting their skills, raising their capabilities, and linking them to the labor market.

Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the university's honorable guests, participating in the activities of its awareness seminar on the dangers of illegal immigration, stressing Mansoura University's keenness to coordinate efforts to enhance citizens' rights and exercise its role in achieving community development. He added that the university is keen to make every effort to implement the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic; By participating in the presidential initiatives, which are a true reflection of the political leadership's interest in ensuring a decent life for all citizens, stressing that the Faculty of Law's participation in the national initiative, "Lifeboats" came from its belief in the importance of the issue of illegal immigration. He pointed out the dangers of illegal immigration and its dire economic and social impacts, stressing the need to confront it by spreading public awareness of its dangers and shedding light on the available alternatives.

Ambassador Nabil Habashi expressed his great pleasure to be in Mansoura University, noting that this symposium came to spread awareness of the dangers of the phenomenon of illegal immigration and its tragic consequences on Egyptian families, reviewing the most important reasons that prompt young people to illegal immigration.

Ambassador Naila Gabr stressed the continuation of the efforts of the Egyptian state, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to confront illegal immigration, explaining that Egypt was one of the first countries to criminalize this phenomenon by establishing legal frameworks to combat it. To preserve the lives of young people, noting that these efforts have contributed to reducing the rates of irregular migration, and prompted young people to search for safe alternatives to improve their standard of living within their homeland.

Prof. Cherif Khater presented the university shield to Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Ambassador Naila Gabr, Head of the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking, in appreciation of their fruitful participation in the symposium's activities.

The symposium's activities witnessed the identification of the dangers of illegal migration, its economic and social impacts on the country, and a review of means to combat illegal migration; including: spreading awareness among young people, especially in towns and villages; of the negative consequences of illegal migration, and achieving the most important goals of the presidential initiative "Rescue Boats", which aims to educate and train the most needy groups; to identify the dangers of illegal migration, and its safe alternatives, according to a set plan; To include the governorates most prone to illegal immigration, in addition to providing training programs, qualification for the labor market and entrepreneurship, and conducting field visits; to reduce this phenomenon. The symposium also included showing short and real films about the suffering of illegal immigrants, then discussion and dialogue with the students and answering their various questions.
