Mansoura University President receives President of El Alamein International University and a delegation from the University of Louisville, USA

Prof. Cherif Khater:
• The visit aimed to enhance academic cooperation and activate the dual degree with the University of Louisville.
• Students of the engineering programs at Mansoura National University have the right to benefit from the partnership with the University of Louisville in dual degree programs and scholarships.

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received on February 18, 2025, Prof. Essam El-Kurdi, President of El Alamein International University, Prof. Paul Hofmann, Vice President for International Relations at the University of Louisville, Prof. Mustafa El-Naanaei, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Computer Engineering at El Alamein International University, Prof. Ayman El-Baz, Head of the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Louisville, to discuss enhancing cooperation and activating the dual degree at the bachelor's level between the two universities in the engineering and informatics specializations at the Faculties of Engineering and Computers and Information.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof.Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Magdy Zakaria Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, and Prof.  Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the President of the International University of Alexandria and the delegation of the University of Louisville, stressing the importance of cooperation with international universities with an international reputation and standing, within the framework of implementing the directives of the political leadership to expand cooperation and partnerships with international educational institutions, and achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, and an important step towards enhancing opportunities for cooperation between Mansoura University and foreign universities with a prestigious reputation, as cooperation is an opportunity to exchange experiences and expertise to develop students' skills, and qualify students in interdisciplinary study programs, which contributes to enhancing their scientific and research capabilities, to prepare qualified graduates capable of competing in various fields. He also praised the cooperation with the University of Louisville, USA, for its role as a leading research university in the fields of engineering, technology and medicine, stressing that it was agreed that students of the engineering programs at Mansoura National University would benefit from the partnership with the University of Louisville in dual degree programs and scholarships.

Prof. Cherif Khater discussed the importance of dual practical degree programs in preparing a qualified graduate to obtain the best opportunities in the labor market, and excel through studying modern and unconventional specializations and contributing to achieving the goals of sustainable development, which contributes to providing opportunities for university education based on the foundations of knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship and scientific research, which benefits students and Egyptian society.

During the meeting, Prof. Essam El-Kurdi stressed the importance of cooperation with prestigious international universities, due to its role in improving the quality of education and scientific research at the International University of Alexandria, and enhancing the ability of students and graduates to compete in local and international markets. He also praised the Ministry of Higher Education's support for such partnerships that contribute to achieving Egypt's 2030 vision in the field of higher education.

Prof. Paul Hofmann, Associate Vice president for academic affairs at Louisville University, stressed his university's keenness to cooperate with Mansoura University and expand the exchange of visits between faculty members and students, in addition to cooperation in scientific, research and academic fields of common interest, explaining that the visit came with the aim of learning about the scientific programs offered by the university's faculties with the aim of exploring ways to establish and activate partnerships between the two sides, as well as the possibility of providing scholarships through joint cooperation agreements.

Prof. Mohamed Attia pointed out the importance of providing students with the opportunity to open up to modern and different educational systems, which contributes to enriching their educational experience and contributes to adding many gains and makes students more capable of working at the global level, not just in Egypt and the Middle East.

Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim also expressed that activating joint degree programs that grant students two dual degrees in engineering specializations is a reinforcement of academic internationalization and provides educational opportunities with international standards.

Prof. Tarek Ghalwash also expressed his hope that the university will present a distinguished model of international cooperation in the field of dual degrees, which achieves mutual benefit and opens new educational horizons for students.

During the meeting, an introductory video about Mansoura University was shown, and the Louisville University delegation gave a detailed explanation about Louisville University.

The President of Mansoura University also presented the university shield to the President of El Alamein University and the Vice President of Louisville University, Prof. Ayman El-Baz, in appreciation of their tireless efforts in enhancing ways of joint cooperation with Mansoura University.

A seminar was held with students of the Faculties of Engineering and Computers and Information in various specializations, in the auditorium of Prof. Magdy Abu Rayan in the Faculty of Engineering, to introduce them to the dual degree programs for the bachelor's stage, summer training grants, and to answer their inquiries. The meeting was attended by the deans, vice deans, department heads, and program directors of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Computers and Information.
The introductory meeting shed light on the conditions for joining the program and the number of study hours in Egypt or when the student travels to study at the University of Louisville, in addition to reviewing the steps for joining study programs with the University of Louisville and partnership programs for the undergraduate and graduate levels and the study cost, in addition to talking about the advantages of studying in the program, which provides opportunities for students to obtain a job opportunity in the United States of America after completing their studies, as well as some opportunities during the study hours in the program.
The meeting concluded with a number of questions being asked to the students to clarify the mechanism for enrolling in the study programs, the study cost, the importance of mastering the English language, and the extent of efforts to find opportunities, scholarships, and study partnerships for the rest of the study and research specializations in the coming period with the University of Louisville in the United States.
