Mansoura University President inaugurates the 3rd Engineering Forum for Employment and Graduates

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, inaugurated on February 23, 2025, the 3rd Engineering Forum for Employment and Graduates, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Amira Yassin Heikal, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the deans of faculties, heads of departments, directors of specific programs, and faculty members at Mansoura University and Mansoura National University, Dr. Abdel Rahman Omar, Director of the Graduates Unit at the Faculty, Eng. Bahaa El-Toukhi, Head of the Employment Committee at the Engineers Syndicate in Dakahlia, and the members of the Syndicate Council, Eng. Farouk El-Hakim, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Engineers Association, Mr. Hazem Nasr, Head of the Trade Union Committee for Journalists in Dakahlia, businessmen and representatives of industrial entities and companies, and with the wide participation of students and graduates of the Faculty of Engineering.

Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the attendees, thanking Prof. Sherif Masoud, for his efforts in implementing this forum, reviewing the development of the Faculty of Engineering in its journey over 50 years, where it was a model of leadership, innovation and institutional work. In recent years, the Faculty has documented this excellence according to international quality systems, as it won the Egypt Award for Government Excellence in the category of distinguished government institutions in the third session, competing with 507 colleges from Egyptian universities. The Faculty’s institutional accreditation was also renewed, and 12 study programs out of 12 programs were accredited (100%) by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education. The Faculty received nine prestigious international ISO certificates, including: Quality Management Systems, Environmental Management Systems, Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems, Innovation Management Systems, Organizational Governance Standards, Anti-Corruption and Bribery Management System, Business Continuity Management System, Information Security Management System, and Energy Management Systems. The university president expressed his pride and appreciation for the college students who raised the name of Egypt abroad, calling for more work to be done to transform innovative ideas into research projects linked to industry to support the Egyptian economy. He has also discussed the need to link university education to industry, while being keen to develop curricula to provide a graduate capable of entering the labor market and competing locally and internationally. He also pointed out the faculty’s excellence in the file of linking scientific research to industry, praising the faculty’s continuation of its journey towards the future, reinforced by innovation, academic excellence, and contributing to building a new generation of engineers capable of facing the challenges of tomorrow.

Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim greeted Prof. Sherif Masoud and the organizing committee in organizing this forum under the auspices of Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, welcoming the honorable attendees. He added that the Egyptian state has launched 14 strategies during the past five years, all of which are related in one way or another to the faculties of engineering and computers and the idea of management and regulating their conditions, and how to transform their university products into knowledge and transform them into emerging companies, to support the Egyptian economy. He had also pointed out the success of the Faculty of Engineering in linking industry with education and scientific research in the faculty, which has become one of the pillars through the Industrial Advisory Council. He paid tribute to the scientists of the Faculty of Engineering who left unforgettable marks in the history of the country, such as the late Prof. Mounir Abdel Razzaq, Prof. Ibrahim Jar Al-Alam, Prof. Magdy Abu Rayyan, and many others.

In her speech on behalf of Prof. Sherif Masoud Al-Badawi, Acting Dean of the faculty and Supervisor of the Forum, Dr. Sahar Sedky extended her greetings and appreciation to the organizing committee of the forum, stressing that this forum reflects the faculty’s commitment to supporting its students and graduates, and its keenness to achieve effective communication between engineering staff and the labor market, which contributes to preparing a generation capable of facing the challenges and requirements of the era. She also stressed the faculty’s constant endeavor to provide real opportunities for students and graduates, whether through direct employment or practical training that contributes to qualifying them for the changing requirements of the labor market. In addition, extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to the sponsoring companies of this forum, which were keen to provide employment and training opportunities for students and graduates, for their support and keenness to contribute to the development of promising engineering staff.

Dr. Amira Yassin Heikal described the forum as a major platform that brings together academic institutions, the engineering sector and the labor market to achieve a partnership that benefits everyone, stressing the faculty’s keenness to provide the best opportunities for its graduates and strengthen bridges between educational outcomes and the needs of the developing labor market within the framework of achieving the faculty’s mission in serving the community.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Omar, Director of the Graduates Unit at the faculty, said that the forum is an important step in enhancing communication between the college and its graduates and linking them to the labor market, stressing that the Faculty of Engineering is a source for refining the personality and skills that enabled its graduates to enter the labor market with confidence and efficiency.

Eng. Mona El-Zeiny, Deputy of the Employment Committee at the General Syndicate of Engineers, expressed her deep appreciation during her speech on behalf of the General Syndicate of Engineers for the great effort and fruitful cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering to support young engineers in finding suitable and competitive job opportunities locally and globally.

At the end of the opening session, the Faculty presented its shield to Prof. Cherif Khater, President of the University who had also honored Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, the Syndicate of Engineers, the Egyptian Society of Engineers, and the companies sponsoring the forum.

Prof. Sherif Youssef Khater also inaugurated the employment fair held on the sidelines of the forum, which includes more than 40 companies and provides more than 500 jobs

A distinguished job fair, which is the largest gathering of companies, factories and training centers specialized in various engineering fields, which represents a unique opportunity for engineering students and graduates to learn about the requirements of the labor market and communicate with major companies and institutions.
