According to a report issued by Taylor & Francis, one of the world's largest academic publishing houses, Recent research by Mansoura University Vertebrate Paleontology Center has received extensive global media reach.

Taylor & Francis, one of the world's largest academic publishing houses, has announced the latest scientific research by the Vertebrate Paleontology Center, which explores the discovery of ferocious carnivores that inhabited Egypt's forests approximately 30 million years ago. Bastet and Sekhmet, prehistoric predators, were published in the International Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology by researcher Shorouk El Ashkar, the lead author of the published research. The research has received unprecedented global media coverage.

The research was published in 449 media outlets worldwide, including 106 direct links to the Taylor & Francis website from major international media outlets.

 This global reach led to the research ranking 6th on the list of the most influential research among all scientific articles published by Taylor & Francis in 2025.

It also ranked 13th among the most influential research papers in the history of the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, and 10th among the most influential papers over the past five years in the same journal.

The impact score reached 849 points, reflecting the extent of global interest in the research.

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, congratulated the Vertebrate Paleontology Center Staff, led by Prof. Hesham Sallam, the research team, and its lead author, Dr. Shorouk El-Ashkar, on this global achievement. He emphasized that these successes reflect the university's great efforts to support scientific research and innovation, and enhance Egypt's position on the global map of scientific discovery. He added that Mansoura University scientists are capable of achieving excellence and competing at the international level. He emphasized that the fact that Egyptian scientific research has garnered this level of international attention confirms our scientists' ability to compete globally and make a real impact on the scientific community. He noted that the university will continue to support its researchers to achieve further accomplishments that will position Egypt at the forefront of scientific research.

Prof. Hesham Sallam expressed his pride and pleasure at this global attention, noting that he will continue to work tirelessly to achieve more distinguished scientific discoveries on the evolution of organisms across different geological eras, maintaining the university's global leadership in the field of vertebrate paleontology.
