Mansoura University President Participates in the Supreme Council of Universities Meeting at Cairo University

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and members of the Council, at Cairo University.
During the session, the Council thanked all Cairo University staff, headed by Prof. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, President of the University, for hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities.
Prof. Ayman Ashour expressed his pleasure at celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of the Supreme Council of Universities, marking the 75th anniversary of its establishment. He emphasized the importance of the role of the Council and the various sector committees, which include prominent academic figures, in contributing to efforts to advance the educational system in Egyptian universities. He directed the need to continue developing academic programs in various sectors to improve the quality of the educational process in line with global developments, ensuring the qualifications of graduates capable of meeting the needs of the contemporary and future labor market. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Higher Education's media center, the Minister directed intensifying awareness-raising efforts on the challenges facing national security at all levels, by holding seminars and hosting national figures in all fields to enhance students' awareness of these challenges.
The Minister also directed universities to focus on artistic and cultural activities among university students, expanding student competitions focused on student artistic productions, including plays, videos, and performances, developing students' artistic sense, and presenting these talents to the community by organizing performances of these works both inside and outside of universities.The Minister also directed the formation of a committee of university professors in relevant disciplines to share their expertise with bodies and institutions involved in developing drama and media. This is in line with the President's directives to utilize university professors in developing media and drama content. He had also directed the need to focus on scientific research and innovation, in implementation of the objectives of the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation and the presidential initiative "Alliance and Development," and to encourage innovation and scientific research to address development challenges. He also emphasized supporting the industrial community and the national economy, and focusing on scientific research and ideas that can be transformed into viable innovations and products that have an economic impact on society. To serve development needs across the country.
The Minister also commended the inclusion of 19 Egyptian universities in the 2025 QS World University Rankings and directed the continued support of researchers to increase scientific publication in prestigious international journals, contributing to the global ranking of Egyptian universities.
The Council reviewed a report on the most prominent activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the current month of March.
Prof. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that the Council approved the decision of the Alexandria University Council to establish branches in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Iraq, and Greece, with the necessary legal measures being taken.
The Council also reviewed a report on the BRICS Education Group meetings and the accession of 20 Egyptian universities to the BRICS Higher Education Network, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and exchange of expertise between Egyptian universities and their counterparts in the group's countries.
The Council discussed the support, facilities, and services that Egyptian universities can provide to the families of martyrs in the medical field. The Council also approved the restructuring of the Supreme Committee for Supervising Aptitude Tests, and the monitoring and follow-up of aptitude tests in colleges requiring admission to the 2025/2026 academic year. This committee is chaired by Prof. Sayed Qandil, President of Helwan University.
The official spokesperson added that the Council agreed that the supplementary biology exam required for Saudi high school students (track system) be unified, centralized, and supervised by the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities, in order to achieve the principle of equality and equal opportunities for students.
The Council also approved the inclusion of data from national, technological, and private universities, private higher institutes, and branches of international universities in the statistical reporting program of the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities. This will contribute to providing relevant authorities and decision-makers with up-to-date and accurate data on universities.
The Council approved the decision of the South Valley University Council to change the name of South Valley University to Qena University, pending the completion of the necessary legal procedures in this regard. The Council was informed of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities' approval to allocate a 150-acre plot of land in the Capital Gardens to establish a campus for Helwan University. Necessary action will be taken in this regard.
