The Governor of Dakahlia sent a message of thanks and appreciation to Mansoura University Hospitals and the Emergency Hospital for their efforts in quickly responding to the injured in the Mansoura gas explosion. Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, confirmed during the University Council session held on March 24, 2025, that Mansoura University has begun development work at Book Square, which will bear the name of Mansoura University. This development is part of ongoing cooperation and coordination between the governorate and the university, following the University Council's approval of the square's design prepared by the relevant technical committee.
The Governor of Dakahlia confirmed the commencement of development work on Book Square, which will be renamed Mansoura University Square, a place of which we are all proud. The square is being designed and implemented by Mansoura University. He also requested that Mansoura University study new designs and a scientifically vision for the development of major public squares in Mansoura City, noting that these efforts are part of the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the governorate and the university. He extended a message of thanks and appreciation to Mansoura University Hospitals and the Emergency Hospital for their dedicated efforts in quickly responding to the injured in the Mansoura gas explosion, and for their distinguished role in providing medical care until they recovered. He had also discussed the importance of expanding the Emergency Hospital and providing full support for Mansoura University's efforts to provide medical care, especially since Mansoura University Hospitals have become a safe haven for all governorates of the republic, not just Dakahlia. We must all stand with sincerity in supporting the university and its hospitals. He expressed his appreciation to the university president, faculty professors, and distinguished academic cadres.
Prof. Cherif Khater said that the Emergency Hospital Extension Project is a major service project launched by Mansoura University as part of the implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to provide the highest level of medical care, meeting international standards, in a manner befitting Egyptian citizens. He added that the new building will be a significant addition to the medical system at Mansoura University's university hospitals, alleviating the burden on the Emergency Hospital following the significant increase in pressure on the old Emergency Hospital, which receives approximately 200,000 cases annually and performs approximately 15,000 operations annually to save accident and critical cases for citizens and accident victims in Dakahlia Governorate and five governorates in the Delta region. He indicated that the project will add an additional 220 beds, bringing the total number of beds at the Emergency Hospital to 450. He called on all community institutions, community organizations, and individuals to contribute to the construction and furnishing of the "Emergency Hospital Building" for its rapid completion as soon as possible, helping to treat thousands of accident, critical, and emergency patients.
