Mansoura University President Participates in Supreme Council of Universities Meeting at Hurghada University

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities on Saturday, chaired by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and other members of the Council. The meeting was held at Hurghada University.
The Council congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Armed Forces, and the Egyptian people on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the liberation of Sinai.
The Council also thanked the President for his support of the higher education system in Sinai, which has witnessed an unprecedented renaissance over the past ten years in the establishment of public, national, and technological universities and the provision of modern academic programs that address the development needs of Sinai, with total investments amounting to EGP 23 billion.
The Council expressed its gratitude to the Hurghada University staff, headed by Prof. Mahfouz Abdel Sattar, Acting President of the University, for hosting the Supreme Council of Universities meeting.
The Council congratulated Prof. Mohamed Hussein on the issuance of the presidential decree appointing him as President of Tanta University, wishing him continued success and the university further progress and prosperity.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. Ayman Ashour discussed the need for universities and institutes to prepare for the second semester exams of the current academic year, directing faculties to quickly announce exam schedules well in advance. He also emphasized the need for faculty members and administrative staff to be present throughout the exam period to ensure the smooth running of exams at universities and institutes. He had also directed intensified efforts to raise awareness of the challenges facing national security at all levels, by holding seminars and hosting national figures in various fields, to raise students' awareness of these challenges. In addition, he directed the establishment of a central unit within the Ministry of Higher Education to coordinate with all universities to monitor the integration of students with disabilities into university life. He emphasized the importance of attracting international students, a priority within the Ministry's action plan to enhance Egypt's role as an attractive destination for students wishing to study at Egyptian universities. He noted that the Ministry of Higher Education is implementing an ambitious plan developed by the state to make Egypt a unique educational destination in the field of higher education and scientific research, capitalizing on the distinguished human capabilities and long-standing academic and research expertise of Egyptian universities.
The Council reviewed a report on the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's most prominent activities during the month of April.
Prof. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry's media advisor and official spokesperson, stated that the Council reviewed a report on universities' efforts during the coming period to market Egyptian universities, their academic programs, and their distinguished capabilities. He added that the Council witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between Benha University and Hurghada University, with the aim of collaborating in the areas of practical field training for students, joint scientific research, joint supervision of scientific dissertations, exchange of scientific expertise, investment in knowledge, holding conferences, seminars, and workshops in various fields, cooperating in launching joint research competitions for undergraduate graduation projects, and forming joint research teams to present applied research at the local, regional, and international levels. A contract was also signed between Bedaya Company to market the services of Benha University and Hurghada University, to design the visual identity of Hurghada University.
The Council also heard a presentation by Prof. Rasha Sharaf, Secretary General of the Education Development Fund, affiliated with the Prime Minister's Office. The presentation addressed Cisco Academy courses, the most prominent training tracks and programs offered to students, mechanisms for enhancing cooperation between the Fund and universities and institutes within the "Be Prepared" initiative, and a review of the scientific specializations needed by the global labor market. The presentation also included accredited foreign language testing centers and a presentation of the new model for Egyptian-Japanese technology colleges.
The Council also heard a presentation by Prof. Omar Salem, Director of the Electronic and Knowledge Services Center at the Supreme Council of Universities, on the electronic platform for community service and environmental development. This platform aims to record the activities and achievements of the community service and environmental development sector at universities, highlighting universities' efforts to develop and serve the community at home and abroad. The presentation also included a presentation on alliances between universities, civil society institutions, academia, and industry partners. The presentation also included the universities' quarterly future plans and statistics on implemented activities.
The Council reviewed a report on the Egyptian Student Participation Survey until April 2025, and presented data on the percentage of university participation.
