Mansoura University President Receives Iraqi Ambassador to Strengthen Cooperation

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received His Excellency Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Cairo, on May 5, 2025. He was accompanied by Counselor Falah Muhammad Hassan, Advisor to the Ambassador's Office; Porf. Thamer Atab Al-Barki, Deputy Consul at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo; and Mr. Tamer Saad, Media Officer at the Embassy. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Al-Moatasem Billah Mustafa, General Supervisor of the administration of International Students; Dr. Shaima Abdel Wahab, Deputy General Supervisor of Graduate Studies and Research; and Dr. Ahmed Salah, Deputy General Supervisor of Bachelor's and Undergraduate Studies.
Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation, noting the deep historical ties and strong relations between Egypt and Iraq and the university's continued commitment to developing its relations with various educational institutions in Iraq. He also emphasized Mansoura University's commitment to building ties of cooperation and communication with embassies and cultural attachés in Cairo. He highlighted Mansoura University's commitment to supporting Iraqi students studying in its various faculties, both undergraduate and graduate, and its commitment to providing the best modern educational methods and distinguished academic programs that equip them with knowledge and skills, as they are considered tools of Egypt's soft power in their home countries.
Porf. Qahtan Taha Khalaf expressed his great pleasure at visiting Mansoura University, praising its scientific and academic standing, its distinguished reputation, and the remarkable progress it has achieved in the field of higher education. He also expressed his great appreciation to the university administration for its efforts in supporting incoming Iraqi students and the care and services it provides them during their studies at the university's faculties.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance existing academic cooperation between Mansoura University and Iraqi universities in various scientific, cultural, and research fields, with the aim of exchanging expertise and deepening ties of cooperation between the two countries. They also discussed the conditions of Iraqi students studying at the university's faculties and explored mechanisms to attract more Iraqi students to enroll in undergraduate programs, particularly in engineering and science disciplines.
On the sidelines of the visit, a meeting was held between the Iraqi ambassador and Iraqi students studying at Mansoura University. The meeting was attended by Prof. Cherif Khater, President of the University, Prof. Walid El-Shenawy, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Prof. Alaa El-Tamimi, Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs. The meeting took place in Prof. El-Shafei Bashir Auditorium. During the meeting, the students' conditions were discussed, and various issues of concern were heard, along with their opinions on the services and care provided to them at the university.
